Neurotoxins

Reverse aging and reduce wrinkles with Botox, Dysport, Xeomin, or Jeuvea.

What are neuromodulators?

Neuromodulators also known as neurotoxins or toxins or simply Botox work by blocking signals from the nerves to the muscles. The injected muscle can’t contract. That makes any overlying wrinkles in the skin relax and soften.

What toxins are available?

Pure Harmony carries all 4 brands of neuromodulators that are available in the US

  • Botox

  • Xeomin

  • Jeuveau

  • Dysport

There are minor differences between them that we can explain to you in your free consultation.

What areas are most commonly treated with toxins?

Toxins are most often used on forehead lines, crow’s feet (lines around the eye), lines between the eyebrows (the elevens), and frown lines. Other areas that can be treated include the neck, smokers’ lines around the mouth. Heavy wrinkles that are constantly present without muscle contraction are harder to treat. That is why it is important to get treatment before heavy static lines develop.

Common areas for anti-wrinkle injections:

  • Forehead lines

  • Around the eyes

  • Between the eyebrows - "the elevens"

  • Around the mouth and chin including a lip flip

  • Jaw muscles

  • Nasal tip lift

  • Neck bands

  • Armpits and palms for hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating)

How are toxins administered?

Treatment takes only a few minutes and doesn’t require anesthesia. Botox is injected with a fine needle into specific muscles with only minor discomfort.

How soon after treatment can I expect results?

Depending on the product used it takes 1-3 days to start to see an effect. It generally takes 5 to 10 days to take full effect. The effects will last three to six months. As muscle action gradually returns, the lines and wrinkles will gradually begin to reappear and need to be treated again. The lines and wrinkles often appear less severe with time because the muscles are shrinking.

What Are the Side Effects of Treatment?

Temporary bruising is the most common side effect of treatment. Headaches, which end in 24 to 48 hours, can happen, but this is rare. A small percentage of patients may develop eyelid drooping. This usually ends within three weeks. Drooping can happen when the product migrates from the injected area, so don’t rub the treated area for 12 hours after injection or lie down for three to four hours.
